Leased-Line Internet Access, Frac T-1 to T-1, Frame Relay

Tsoft offers leased-line access to the Internet from our office in the San Francisco Financial District, and our physical POP in downtown San Jose. Our SF office is in the SF01 aka Bush/Pine Pacbell CO, and we are also on MFS' fiber network. Our San Jose POP is on the following fiber networks: Pacbell, MFS/Worldcom, Brooks, TCG, and ICG. T-1 service provides high-speed access to the Internet at 1.544Mbps for full T-1, or a multiple of 64Kbps channels for fractional T-1.

Because T-1 lines are distance sensitive in cost, you may want to consider Frame Relay access instead. We can offer Frame Relay access from anywhere in the bay area (or all of the SF LATA to the Oregon border) for the same total cost for a particular speed (ie, the telco fees are flat-rate for a speed, not distance sensitive). yet.

There are two components to leased-line access: The first is the transport service itself, which is provided by a phone company, either Pacbell or a competitive carrier (competitive carriers are usually only cost competitive if they either have fiber in the building or the circuit is long distance). In most cases, for circuits terminating in the immediate Bay Area, we order the circuit through MFS (even if you're not on their network, they will handle the Pacbell portion of the circuit); this generally saves 10-20% in monthly fees and a bit on installation costs, and if your end is on MFS' network saves even more with minimal installation costs. T-1 circuits are distance sensitive, and for within San Francisco transport is typically between $220 and $450/mo. payable to the phone company. Fractional T-1 speeds are provided over a full T-1 line with "N" of the 24 64Kbps channels the T-1 line consists of enabled to provide the speed you select; we can increase your line speed on a few hours notice without the need to involve the telco.

The second component of the T-1 Internet access is the fee paid to the Internet provider, in this case Tsoft, for use of the router port and for the bandwidth to the rest of the Internet. That cost is detailed below....

In addition to the monthly service fees, you will also need to obtain a T-1 capable router. Tsoft can recommend several brands of low-cost routers that perform very well for between $1100 and $2000, including the T-1 CSU/DSU! Also, for a limited time, Tsoft will configure the router on your site and provide three additional consulting hours to help configure your local network and machines at no additional charge (other than our setup fee below), to help make sure you get online as painlessly as possible.

If you have any questions, please email or phone us and we'll be glad to answer them.

T-1 and Fractional T-1 Leased Service

The following fees are those of Tsoft for Internet access, and are in addition to telephone company fees for the transport service from your site to our office as mentioned above. Fractional T-1 service can be increased in speed very quickly by adding/removing channels on the T-1 CSU/DSU.

Frame Relay

The following fees are those of Tsoft for Internet access, and are in addition to telephone company fees for the transport service from your site to our office; for Frame Relay, this is the cost of a connection into Pacbell's Frame Relay cloud, which ranges from $125/mo for a 56K, to $675/mo for Full T1. Frame is distance insensitive and Pacbell pricing is the same to connect to us from anywhere in the LATA, including the entire bay area and coast to the Oregon border. Frame service at 128K or higher can be increased in speed very quickly by increasing the port speed with Pacbell and CIR (committed rate) on the PVC to Tsoft.

Please note: prices above include a $15 Frame to ATM Interworking charge which will be billed on your Frame Relay bill by Pacbell--Tsoft's bill will be $15 less than the above pricing.
