Raw Bandwidth Questions? |
What is Aggregated DSL? What is Aggregated DSL?Aggregated DSL combines the speed from multiple DSL lines into a single connection of increased speed. Using up to 4 ADSL lines, we can presently achieve speeds of up to 24Mbps download and 3Mbps upload. The method Raw Bandwidth uses to do this routes the same IP address block over all the available connections in such a way that a single TCP/IP stream can make use of all the lines and achieve up to the full aggregated speed; there are no NAT tricks involved! Aggregated DSL is particularly useful if you are too far from the serving telephone company DSL equipment to receive the speed you desire over a single DSL line, or if you simply want more speed than is available over a single line. Can I get Aggregated DSL?Business Aggregated DSL is available from Raw Bandwidth everywhere that Raw Bandwidth offers single-line ADSL; this includes most of the greater San Francisco Bay area in specific locations where ADSL is available, up the coast to the Oregon border (California LATA 1). Distance from a telephone company's Central Office (CO) or DSL-enabled Remote Terminal (RT) is a limiting factor in the speed we can achieve on each individual ADSL line that we aggregate, so it in part determines what aggregated plans you can achieve.. To check availability, please email us at sales@rawbandwidth.com, and include your complete service address, or phone us at 650-802-8006. Raw Bandwidth's approach to pricing all of our services is to offer
sustainable pricing, and quality service... we focus on providing the
full throughput of your line on a statistically sustained basis to the
Internet. Running servers on this service is perfectly permissable,
however resale (or give/trade) of IP connectivity on these services is
not permitted. You may contact us to negotiate pricing if you wish
to share your connection with your neighbors, to resell connectivity
to the public, etc.
Raw Bandwidth's Business Aggregated
DSL service utilizes a ADSL circuits from AT&T/ASI, connected to us for
upstream Internet connectivity.
This service is provided over AT&T/ASI DSL
lines using our own upstream Internet bandwidth.
You will pay one bill through Raw Bandwidth for your ADSL service
including ADSL circuits, and not have a separate charge on your phone bill
for your ADSL with us. You continue to pay AT&T/Pacbell directly for the
underlying telephone lines. Note Aggregated DSL does require an
active phone account underlying each DSL line, but it can be the
bare minimum measured business phone service (typically $18-20/mo/ea
including all fees and taxes), and the lines can be used for
other voice/fax/dialup modem purposes at the same time they are
used for ADSL. We are currently seeking enforcement of an AT&T/SBC
merger condition requiring AT&T ASI to sell standalone ADSL service
without an underlying voice phone service, but thus far AT&T is refusing
to make wholesale standalone circuits available to independent ISPs.
If/when available, we expect it will be a marginal cost less than
the cost of full phone service; prices below are for line-shared
ADSL circuits only.
*+ Aggregated DSL is presently available only
on a 12-month term commitment. Once the term commitment is completed
at a particular address and installation, the service continues on a
month-to-month basis at the same monthly rate. The worst-case early
termination charge is $200 per component DSL circuit, however moving service
can generally avoid any early termination charge by establishing
a new 12-month term at the new location.
*^ Federal Universal Service fund is added
to each plan, and may change from time to time, even during a term contract.
Please see our FUSF FAQ.
For Aggregated DSL, the FUSF rate is based on the the FUSF applied to
each individual ADSL circuit that we combine to create your service.
Raw Bandwidth reserves its right to add FCC, CPUC,
or government fees, assessments, and taxes imposed on bundled
telecommunications services or the Internet service itself. One-time/setup or change charges:
Additional IP addresses and subnet blocks are available as follows: * Subnets of 4-bits or larger must be justified based on
need. Additional Services Included and Available Your Aggregated DSL connection
comes with the same Included Additional Services and
Available Additional Services as are included or available with our
single-line
Business ADSL service.
