future logo Leased Line Internet Access, Fractional T-1 to T-1, Frame Relay

Raw Bandwidth offers leased-line access to the Internet with excellent telco circuit pricing covering most of the Bay Area and Sacramento/Roseville area. T-1 service provides high-speed access to the Internet at 1.544Mbps for full T-1, or a multiple of 64Kbps channels for fractional T-1.

Because T-1 lines are distance sensitive in cost, you may want to consider Frame Relay access instead in some cases. We can offer Frame Relay access from anywhere in the Bay Area (or all of the SF LATA to the Oregon border) for the same total cost for a particular speed (ie, the telco fees are flat-rate for a speed, not distance sensitive). However, most of the time in the immediate Bay Area, it's less expensive for a dedicated point-to-point T-1 unless you already have a Frame Relay circuit for other needs and will use it in a multi-point configuration.

There are two components to leased-line access: The first is the transport service itself, which is provided by a phone company, either Pacbell or a competitive carrier (competitive carriers are usually only cost competitive if they either have fiber in the building or the circuit is long distance). In most cases, for circuits terminating in the immediate Bay Area, we order the circuit through a competitive carrier (CLEC) with our end of the T-1 on the CLEC's fiber network (even if you're not on their network, they will handle the Pacbell portion of the circuit); this generally saves considerably in monthly fees and a bit on installation costs. T-1 circuits are distance sensitive, and we can cover most of the Bay Area for between $150 and $300/mo. (in some cases it can be a fair bit more, in particular into GTE territory and the North Bay; please contact us for a quote. Fractional T-1 speeds are provided over a full T-1 line with "N" of the 24 64Kbps channels the T-1 line consists of enabled to provide the speed you select; we can increase your line speed on a few hours notice without the need to involve the telco.

The second component of the T-1 Internet access is the fee paid to the Internet provider, in this case Raw Bandwidth, for use of the router port and for the bandwidth to the rest of the Internet. That cost is detailed below....

In addition to the monthly service fees, you will also need to obtain a T-1 capable router. Raw Bandwidth can recommend several brands of low-cost routers that perform very well for between $800 and $2000, including the T-1 CSU/DSU! Also we will configure the router at your site at no additional charge (included in our service setup fee) if needed, to help make sure you get online as painlessly as possible.

If you have any questions, please email or phone us and we'll be glad to answer them.

T-1 and Fractional T-1 Leased Service

The following fees are those of Raw Bandwidth for Internet access, and are in addition to telephone company fees for the transport service from your site to our network as mentioned above. Fractional T-1 service can be increased in speed very quickly by adding/removing channels on the T-1 CSU/DSU.

Full T-1:
1.544Mbps: $650/mo.
Installation/setup fee: $300 one-time

Frame Relay

The following fees are those of Raw Bandwidth for Internet access, and are in addition to telephone company fees for the transport service from your site to our network; for Frame Relay, this is the cost of a connection into Pacbell's Frame Relay cloud, which ranges from $125/mo for a 56K, to $650/mo for Full T1. Frame is distance insensitive and Pacbell pricing is the same to connect to us from anywhere in the LATA, including the entire bay area and coast to the Oregon border. Frame service at 128K or higher can be increased in speed very quickly by increasing the port speed with Pacbell and CIR (committed rate) on the PVC to Raw Bandwidth.

Frame Relay (flat-for-bandwidth):
56Kbps Frame: $70/mo.
128Kbps Frame: $100/mo.
384Kbps Frame: $150/mo.
768Kbps Frame: $250/mo.
1500Kbps Frame: $350/mo.
Installation/setup fee: $200 one-time (limited time SPECIAL: NO CHARGE for
Frame setup)
Switch from any bandwidth level to another: $100 one-time

Restrictions for Frame:
IP addresses: Max of /27 IP block (29 usable) included, as justified by ARIN rules. For +$75/mo, you can use upto Class C if you can justify it per ARIN rules. If you have your own IP blocks assigned by ARIN or another numbers registrar, we will announce them and route as much as you have to you for $50/mo.

For 768K, and 1500Kbps Frame, IP-access resale permission is not included (ie. you can't provide access to neighbors), but resale for hosting is okay. You can lift this restriction for $50/mo or $100/mo for 768K or 1500K respectively.

Please note: Pacbell/ASI will bill a $15 Frame to ATM Interworking charge which will be billed on your Frame Relay bill by Pacbell.
